A while ago Robert Hunter wrote a paper on how to work alongside colleagues with disabilities – a sort of etiquette guide. We are going to turn this into a useful list of Dos and Don’ts in the near future. We are often told that people don’t know how to behave around those with disabilities, so we hope that this will help to further understanding.
We are keen to use real life examples of how employees with disabilities have been treated at work and how things could have been handled better. We’d love you to tell us your stories. If you’ve been patted on the head whilst using a wheelchair (yes, we know, but it’s a true story…), subtly excluded, or excellently enabled, we want to hear about it.
