MENTORS

Our mentoring scheme is designed to ensure that people with disabilities have someone to talk to outside of their employment, with whom they can discuss any issues that may arise. Because our mentors are not linked to your employer in any way, you can speak freely and honestly about how you are progressing at work and any concerns you may have.

Many mentees tell us that they feel isolated in the workplace, not least because they do not know anyone who does the job that our mentees do, under the same circumstances. For that reason, all of our mentors have disabilities themselves. We match our mentees with a mentor who has the same or similar disability, and work in the same or similar job. That way, you can start your mentoring process knowing that you don’t have to explain yourself to your mentor – they have been where you are, and they “get it”.

Our mentors range from those who are newly qualified in their field, to senior employees such as directors and partners. They cover a huge range of city jobs and other professions, such as marketing, sales, IT, HR and many back office functions. Our mentors are also politicians, solicitors, barristers, accountants, doctors, civil servants, graphic designers, management consultants, business owners, and planning consultants.

We do not assess whether you are “disabled enough” to need our assistance.  If it is something you are worried about then, as far as we are concerned, we are here to help. Nor do you need your employers permission to contact us. Discussions between our mentees and mentors are in strictest confidence.
Our mentors have disabilities that cover mental health issues, physical and pain related disabilities, long term health conditions, sensory disabilities, and neuro-diversity, to name a few categories.

If you think that we may be able to help you, then do get in touch. We will start with a chat about your needs and take matters from there.

Become a mentor

A career as a professional with a disability or long term health condition can pose unique and unexpected challenges. Whatever your experience, it can be put to good use. By becoming one of our mentors, you can share what you have learned with someone who is going through the same thing, supporting and encouraging them as they build their career.

If you would like to become a mentor, please fill in the form below, and we will be in touch.
