It’s the beginning of another academic year, and for many final year students, it’s a difficult time. Not only do they have finals to content with, but many of them are also facing the prospect of securing their first job. It’s a daunting task for any student, but for people with disabilities or long term health conditions there is an added layer of worry.
If you are one of these students, do get in touch with us. Here’s how we can help:
- We can find you a mentor with a similar disability, and in a similar career to the one you are pursuing. They will guide you through the application and interview process, and help you to understand what practical issues, if any, you will need to address in the workplace.
- We can help you to decide whether you will tell future employers about your disability, and if you choose to, how to do it well.
- We can give you practical hints and tips on how to interview well, in particular when you are discussing your disability with a potential employer.
We are currently mentoring many students in this way, and we look forward to hearing from more of you. You can contact us through this site, or by emailing on info@citydisabilities.org.uk
